My top 6 Instagrammers | Norton of Morton

In which G.M. Norton shares six of his favourite Instagrammers.

Since throwing myself into Instagram, it’s been love at first like. When I first heard of Instagram, I thought it was just one of those photograph filters that could make your snaps look olde-worlde. Then perfect strangers started to like my photos and I couldn’t fathom why.

Since those innocent early days, I struggle to keep my hands off it!

There are so many lovely people on Instagram, it’s been a wonderful way to make and build friendships and importantly, to be inspired.

Here are six of my favourite Instagrammers of the moment. I’ve only been following a few for a matter of weeks but I thought it would be rather jolly to share them with you.

In no particular order, here are my six of the best.

The Baron of Picton

Matthew is a lovely chap who I’ve been following for quite some time. Residing in Australia, he made a trip to Blighty last summer. I love his style – the 1940s, stiff collars and a dose of rakishness. Matthew featured as the first King of Chaps in The Chap magazine centrefold last year.

Bunny’s Vintage Wardrobe

I have a growing fondness for ’40s fashion so Bunny has been a true inspiration. Wide lapels, double breasted tailoring and hats and gloves all feature regularly.

Hozzenplozz

Stephan hails from Germany and is always immaculately dressed. He is the master of mixing patterns, colours and textures. I feel like I’m learning a great deal already.

Le Loir En Papillon

Residing in Paris, Mickael is a natty dresser. I’m also quite fond of him due to his pencil moustache (can’t think why!). Perhaps unsurprisingly, Mickael featured in the I am Dandy book by Rose Callahan and Nathaniel Adams.

Freddie1940s

Rowan is a ’30s and ’40s re-enactor and has a particular love of Montague Burton. If you watch the BBC television show, Antiques Roadshow, he featured on this a couple of weeks ago. Rowan is period perfect and I’m enormously jealous as he’s stayed at Burgh Island.

Medetjohn

Medet lives in Turkey but has a distinctly British style. He has braces and bow ties in almost every colour, which is certainly something to aspire to. He also has a highly enviable collection of Church’s shoes.
