Cordings comes to T'North | Norton of Morton
Northern types, I bring good news! After more than 175 years of trading in London, Cordings of Piccadilly now have a second store, in the historic Yorkshire spa town of Harrogate. What’s more, your favourite protagonist was there to witness the second coming by attending their opening evening. I was tickled pink to be invited to celebrate their new home in Harrogate. The store is located in the beautiful Westminster Arcade and is spread across three floors. The womenswear is located on the ground floor with the two remaining floors dedicated to gentlemen.
The store is a visual delight, with tweed at every turn. They really do stock everything for one’s country wardrobe (along with some charming city suits too).
Tweed jackets, moleskin waistcoats, Tattersall shirts, socks, silk and woollen ties. If a gentleman would wear it, Cordings will have it. As the Duke of Wellington once observed, “Without question Cordings is the complete outfitter, you have everything under one roof.” I’m inclined to agree.
The opening evening was absolutely jam-packed with Champagne guzzling guests. Not just any fizz either, Pol Roger Champagne, as sipped by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth. Only the best for Cordings.
I had enormous fun and met some terribly good eggs. Guests were generously presented with goodie bags on their departure.
My bag contained a beautiful pheasant adorned pocket square. Just stunning.
I think it’s wonderful that such a fine establishment has opened up for business in the north of England. Although I’m not sure my bank manager will agree.
